AANA Education Committee Video Competition – Official Rules

  1. Sponsor

This contest is sponsored by the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA), 10275 W Higgins Road, Suite 500, Rosemont, IL 60018 (“Sponsor”).

  1. Eligibility

The AANA Education Committee (“Committee”) Video Competition (“Contest”) is open to individuals who, at the time of entry:

  • Are eighteen (18) years of age or older;
  • Are Resident Registered Nurse Anesthetists (RRNAs);
  • Are students enrolled in an accredited nurse anesthesia program; and
  • Are members of AANA.

Void where prohibited by law.

  1. Contest Description

The Contest is a skill-based competition designed to showcase exceptional skills, wellness techniques, innovation, and advocacy among nurse anesthesiology residents (“Theme”).

To enter, participants must create an original video demonstrating one of the following:

  • Exceptional Skill: Demonstrate a healthcare skill with outstanding proficiency.
  • Wellness Techniques: Share practices promoting physical, mental, or emotional health.
  • Innovation: Present a creative solution to a healthcare problem or process improvement.
  • Advocacy: Discuss a policy or issue relevant to future CRNAs.
  1. How to Enter
  1. Video Requirements
  • Videos must be less than three (3) minutes in length.
  • Content must use professional language, music, and presentation.
  • Content must be original and must not contain:
    • Copyrighted material (music, images, video clips, etc.) without proper rights or licenses;
    • Confidential or protected information (including HIPAA-protected data);
    • Content that violates any applicable laws or regulations.

Content must not:

  • Promote illegal behavior;
  • Contain discriminatory, offensive, or inappropriate material;
  • Violate the rights or privacy of any individual.

Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entry in its sole discretion.

  1. Judging and Winner Selection

This is a skill-based contest. Winners will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Creativity and Originality: How unique and imaginative is the submission?
  • Effectiveness: How well does the video achieve its intended purpose?
  • Clarity and Presentation: How clearly is the message communicated? Is the content easy to follow and understand?
  • Impact: How memorable and impactful is the video? Does it leave a lasting impression on the viewer?

Entries will be evaluated by the AANA Education Committee or its designated judges. In the event of a tie, judges will re-evaluate tied entries based on the above criteria.

  1. Prizes

At least one winner will be selected:

  • Best Individual RRNA Video
  • Best Program/Cohort Video (2 or more RRNAs from the same nurse anesthesia program)

Prize: Winners will receive recognition at the AANA Annual Congress during the Resident Breakfast and may be featured in AANA promotional materials.

Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $0 (recognition only).

Winners will be notified in mid-June 2026.

  1. Rights Granted by Entrants

By entering, each entrant grants Sponsor a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute, and display the submitted video, as well as the entrant’s name, likeness, and biographical information, in any media now known or later developed, for promotional, educational, or marketing purposes, without additional compensation or notice, except where prohibited by law.

  1. Release and Limitation of Liability

By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising out of or related to participation in the Contest or use of submitted materials, to the extent permitted by Illinois law.

  1. Compliance with Laws

All entries must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including but not limited to privacy laws and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

  1. General Conditions

Sponsor reserves the right to:

  • Cancel, suspend, or modify the Contest if necessary due to fraud, technical failures, or other factors beyond its control;
  • Disqualify any entrant who violates these Official Rules or acts in a disruptive or unethical manner.
  1. Privacy

Information collected from entrants is subject to AANA’s Privacy Policy.

  1. Governing Law and Disputes

This Contest is governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.
